Limuw | Santa Cruz Island is a 7.5' x 4' pencil drawing including over 60 species found on Santa Cruz Island (SCI), one of the eight islands in the Channel Islands archipelago found off the coast of southern California. As you move across the drawing from left to right, the piece touches upon the following narratives: 

  • Species of importance to the native inhabitants of the island, the Chumash
  • Invasive plants and insects and their impacts on native pollinators
  • Endemic plant species threatened by the impacts of feral pigs
  • Endemic vertebrate and plant species
  • The near extinction of the Santa Cruz Island Fox
